Fiscal sponsorship is a common alternative to creating a new nonprofit.Fiscal Sponsorship is an arrangement between an existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a project, program, or even another nonprofit. The sponsor extends its tax-exempt status to the project so it can receive food, funding, or support from a foundation, government agency, or tax-deductible source. Washington Food Coalition and the WSDA have partnered to create Fiscal Sponsorship for Food Organizations to help you understand how it works and how to set up a sponsorship. These easy-to-understand videos and written materials explain how sponsorships work in the state of Washington and provide sample agreements and templates to help you get started.
